Got questions about Armatec and our actuators? We have answers.
Is L.B. or Lucien Bernard the same a Bernard Controls?
o Yes, Lucien Bernard founded the company in 1939 under the name Les Établissements Bernard. In 1981 the company was presided over by his son Etienne, the current CEO of the company. In 2010 the company name was changed to Bernard Controls.
Is it Ex/EEx or ATEX?
Depending on the actuator, it will either be an ATEX or Ex relevant execution. ATEX is a term used for all mechanical components intended for an explosive atmosphere and that is controlled to be non-sparking in its regular intended function.
An example of a non-electric actuator can look like this:
CE II 2G c T6 -10°C ≤ Ta ≤ 50°C
Ex is a term used in different categories (nA/ ia/ m/ e mb/ dm/ d) to identify the ELECTRICAL installations that will be safe to use in an explosive atmosphere.
An example of an electric actuator can look like this:
CE II 2G mb IIC T4 Gb
Can we use it offshore?
Depending on the regulations and Governing documents and or Approved Vendor Lists, the execution of a certain actuator can or can not be used offshore. Please make contact so we can help configure the best actuation solution.
Can we use it below sea-level?
Some actuators can be submerged in water and continue to operate with direct contact with the surrounding water. Other executions are meant to be installed below sea-level in ship hulls or offshore jacket installations for platforms etc. where the surrounding ambient environment is still air, but with certifications to secure the outside water from entering the construction (example: DNV-GL, BV, ABS, Lloyd's).
Extreme Temperatures?
Most actuators are executed to be used in ambient temperatures between -20C and +80C, however by specifying your installations temperature parameters we can most often supply a special execution with either high or low temperature certification.
Third-Party Approvals?
Many of our actuators are type approved for different installations and services. If one such necessary approval is not readily available, we can investigate the possibility to invite a third party to supervise testing and finally issue a certificate/test approval document.
Do you support 110VDC/ 220VDC? (100-350 VDC)
Unfortunately, it is not regular practice to supply motors for this current. Our actuators can in some executions be powered and run by 110VDC or 220VDC.
Does Armatec use suppliers from Europe or the far east/ China?
Armatec is known for high quality and European brands. Our carefully selected suppliers are all well-known brands with long and broad world-wide experience that we utilize to supply the most cost-effective solution. Low LCC (Life Cycle Cost) is our main target, both for customer's and mother earth's advantage!
Material certificates and traceability.
Some sub-components might be cast or forged in an eastern country, but with European certified material certificates we are able to maintain the material traceability and uphold the required quality assessment and control.
Can you ship over night?
Most of our stock can be quickly dispatched through our many forwarders. Heavy, complicated and/or customized equipment might need a few days to get ready.
Can you deliver (a) valve(s) with actuation tomorrow?
Yes, we can. We advise calling us as soon as possible. Most urgent inquiries are solved within 24 hours.
